Ultrasound examination and OMR flash breaking machine

A machine for controlling the degree of spheroidization of the cast iron of the differential gear housing and removing the flash formed in the casting process of the detail.

 

Purpose of the machine

The main purpose of the machine is to check the structure of the cast iron of the tested detail and to remove flash from castings.

Additionally, the machine can be equipped with:

  • interchangeable sockets matched to a given reference;
  • one or two ultrasound probes;
  • one or two servo-motors to break flash;
  • storage areas for sockets and OK/NOK pieces.

Description of the operation

After the operator inserts the detail into the sockets and initiates the cycle, an automatic process is performed, consisting of the following operations:

  • detection of the correct geometry of the detail by checking its correct position in the socket
  • applying  of oil to the surface of the probe in order to eliminate the presence of air at the probe-detail contact point;
  • moving  the  ultrasound probes to the detail and measurement of the casting structure;
  • after a positive USG measurement, flash is broken by means of two hydraulic cylinders.

OPERATOR PANEL

The control elements and the 7" display allow you to select the appropriate reference, view the process status and control the individual drives of the machine.

OIL DOSING PUMP

The pump feeds the oil directly to the head with the ultrasound probe. The pump is powered by compressed air. Using the pressure regulator and the throttle valve on the outlet valve from the pump, we set the desired dose of oil  applied  in  the probe. The Dropsa pump is equipped with a liquid level sensor. In the event of a low oil level, an appropriate message will be displayed on the operator panel. In this case, top up the oil.

REPLACEABLE DETAIL SOCKETS

Depending on the requirements, sockets adapted to various casting references can be mounted on the machine. The sockets have coding pins for their recognition. The machine has a stepless adjustment of the position of the probes in one axis, so they can be set for various castings.

CONTAINER FOR BROKEN FLAS

Under the top of the machine there is a metal container for flash broken during the process. Thanks to the holes in the table top, flash is discharged into a removable container.

SAFETY ASSURANCE LEVEL

In accordance with the client's guidelines and adaptation to the recommendations of the PN-EN ISO 12100 standard, the machine is equipped (depending on the type of process performed) with a number of technical safety measures, such as: emergency switch, light curtain, mesh guards.
