O-ring assembly machine

Automatic machine with manual loading. Designed for automatic assembly of connectors. The machine is equipped with a rotary table, vibrating feeder for O-rings and vision control system.

Purpose of the machine

The machine is designed for the automatic installation of O-rings onto connectors. This solution ensures high process repeatability, reliable assembly verification, and efficient handling of different product variants.

Operation

The operator places the connector in the fixture. The part is then transferred by means of a rotary indexing table to subsequent stations, where the following operations are carried out: O-ring installation, inspection of correct O-ring placement, part marking, and unloading of the finished connectors.

Machine design

Rotary indexing table

The machine is equipped with a five-position rotary indexing table fitted with connector fixtures. Modules located beneath the table are responsible for opening the fixture jaws, ensuring correct positioning of the part and smooth transfer through the successive process stages.

O-ring installation station

The O-ring installation station consists of a vibratory feeder into which the O-rings are loaded in bulk. The O-rings are then transported to an intermediate nest, from where they are picked up by a head mounted on a pneumatic actuator. During the first movement, the O-ring is picked up from the nest, and during the second movement, it is precisely installed onto the connector.

Other stations

At the next station, the correct positioning of the O-ring is verified using a vision camera. At the marking station, a pneumatic actuator fitted with a marking pin marks correctly assembled connectors. At the unloading station, the parts are picked up by a pneumatic gripper and transferred to a chute that allows separation of OK and NOK parts.

Interchangeable tooling

The machine is designed to handle various part references. The fixtures are equipped with interchangeable, coded tooling, enabling quick and safe changeovers.

Safety level

In accordance with the client’s requirements and the recommendations of PN-EN ISO 12100, the machine is equipped — depending on the nature of the process — with appropriate technical safety measures such as emergency stop buttons, guards, and light curtains.

Operator panel

The operator panel allows ongoing process monitoring and convenient control of the individual drives and machine functions.

Benefits for the customer/user

  • automatic O-ring installation;
  • verification of correct assembly and the ability to detect damaged connectors;
  • high process efficiency thanks to the rotary indexing table and the fact that most movements are performed in hidden time;
  • the ability to handle different part references thanks to interchangeable, coded tooling;
  • repeatable quality and reduced risk of assembly errors.
