22144 - Workstation with lift and turntable for finishing work

The machine is used to remove excess insulation from LOW and HIGH type motors

Purpose of the device

The device is designed to streamline the process of manually cutting away excess insulation from LOW and HIGH type motors. This is achieved by lifting the motor on a lift and clamping it in the jaws of the rotary head. The operator at the workstation can then freely rotate the workpiece to positions convenient for them and turn it around its own axis. Material scraps fall into pull-out containers, which can be removed and emptied once full.

The station’s operation is synchronised with the motor conveyor line.

Description of operation

1. Machine in the home position. Waiting for the pallet with the workpiece to arrive;

2. Pallet enters the station’s main STOP position;

3. Safety gates close;

4. Workpiece is automatically gripped by the jaws;

5. Authorisation for the operator to perform the operation, indicated by a control light. During the operator’s work, if necessary, the gates are opened and the next pallet is admitted to the station in front of the turntable, whilst the pallet located at the station behind the turntable is removed. This allows for a reduction in cycle time;

6. confirmation by the operator of the workpiece status (OK/NOK);

7. automatic gripping of the workpiece by the indexer;

8. removal of the workpiece from the station.

Machine design

MOTOR-DRIVEN TRANSPORT PALLET LIFTING MECHANISM

The lifting mechanism is integrated into the transport conveyor and operates in conjunction with a head mounted on a column. It is equipped with a set of sensors controlling the machine’s operational cycle and a dual brake caliper system, preventing uncontrolled descent. The transport pallet with the motor is lifted by a pneumatic cylinder.

ROTARY HEAD

The rotary head is designed to receive the motor lifted by the pneumatic lift. Constructed around a large-sized bearing, it allows rotation around its own axis, providing the operator with access to the lifted workpiece from all sides. The head mechanism is equipped with two cylinders for moving the clamps and a locking cylinder to prevent them from opening automatically. A positioning system has been installed at the rear of the module, allowing the head to be adjusted relative to the lift.

CLAMPING JAWS

The clamping jaws are mounted on the rotating head and are in direct contact with the motor. They are fitted with a set of plastic shaped rollers to ensure free rotation and protect the body from damage. The position of the motor during picking up and placing on the transport pallet is controlled and locked by a motor rotation locking mechanism.

SAFETY LEVEL

In accordance with the customer’s guidelines and in compliance with the requirements of the PN-EN ISO 12100 standard, the machine is equipped (depending on the type of process performed) with a range of technical safety measures such as: an emergency stop switch, a light curtain, safety gates and guards.

Benefits for the customer/user

  • streamlining of the insulation cutting process for LOW and HIGH type motors;
  • the machine is equipped with waste collection trays;
  • safe and ergonomic design for the operator and maintenance staff.
